Confused about Mammography Guidelines?

The United States Preventive Services Task Force announced it is changing its guidelines for mammography and no longer recommends routine screening for women ages 40 through 49. The American Cancer Society continues to recommend annual screening mammogram and clinical breast exam for all women, beginning at age 40.

Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center is taking the same approach as the American Cancer Society and will mirror its recommendations. We'll be posting more detailed information in the coming weeks and sending Hot Flashes on the topic to our Maine Frame members.

In the meantime, we encourage you to visit the American Cancer Society and to talk to your provider.
